Part 2: Chapter Eight ~The Unwanted Companion~

(k, this chapter is a torn apart one...if you can't tell, oh good! ahah. AT first i had a lot more about the city and how things worked and their was a lot more with Amy and Tayon...but, while re-reading i took it out and so this is how it is for right now. short..and well, to the point. so here you go, amy's point of view.)

The next morning was, in Amy’s opinion, a horror. First off, two elderly elves walked in and demanded to help her dress and pack for the trip. It had taken at least a half hour to explain to them that she actually could dress herself and that she didn’t need ANY help packing. They had seemed confused by her many words and she had felt a funny buzzing in her head the whole time. It was not unlike the feeling when Tayon had entered her mind to tell her to stop the arrows. It unnerved her and she pushed the buzzes away which seemed to confuse the elves even more.
By the time they were gone she had a horrific headache and didn’t want to see another over helpful person as long as she lived.
She looked through all the short, stretchy dresses that Safyra had given to her. Most of them fit her pretty good. She packed them into a large travel bag that was shockingly magical. She corrected herself at this though. It was shockingly full of jaharah.
Everything she put in it turned terrifyingly small so that she was able to fit quite a lot in it. She found this very appealing and decided that she rather liked this jaharah thing. At first she had been terrified that the items would stay small but as soon as she pulled them out they grew to there normal size, to Amy’s relief.
When she was finished packing, she dressed in one of the plain, leather dresses with a flowing cotton shirt and went down to breakfast.
It was surprisingly easy to find her way around the large tree. The halls were small and the sides bumpy with the bark of the tree. She had no doubt that it was magical too and knew where she wanted to go. Everything here was magical. No, full of jaharah. Jaharaical? She was still trying to get used to it. Everything was so beautiful, not to mention the people. She felt so plain and outrageously odd next to them.
“Amy?” it was Tayon.
“Oh, hey Tayon…what are you doing?” she asked rather embarrassed. He raised an eyebrow at her and smirked.
“Going down to eat…that’s what most normal people do right?” Amy rolled her eyes. Of all days he had to be sarcastic he had to chose this one. She gave him a mock glare and began walking once again. He laughed and ran up to catch up with her.
“Hey, you’re not actually offended are you?” he said once he caught up to her.
“No, I’m just pulling your leg” she said laughing. He gave her a puzzled look and looked down at his leg.
“Uhhh, no your not” he said looking up at her as if she was crazy.
“It’s an expression, as in I’m just joking with you.” He still looked confused but seemed to understand what she was talking about.
“Why would you say that though?” he asked raising one of his thin dark eyebrows at her.
“I dunno…its something everyone says back…home.” Amy looked down. Home, was it really that? Tayon looked sad and guilty.
She looked up, at the high ceiling and blinked back tears. Why was she so emotional about that simple…thing? It wasn’t anything really. She couldn’t actually miss where she used to live. No, it wasn’t that. It was the fact that she didn’t have a home.
Tayon seemed a little taken back but kept walking along side her.
“You know, you really make me curious. Did you know that I can’t touch your mind?” It was Amy’s turn to stare at him weird.
“How in the world would you be able to touch my mind?” He frowned, thinking of his answer.
“It’s an elf thing. Well, and I’m a special sort of elf called a sencer, which means I can read peoples emotions and read their minds.” He glanced up and smiled at her startled expression. “Don’t worry” he quickly said. “I only do it if someone asks me or I have a huge need to do it.” She nodded, relived. She didn’t want him hearing any of her thoughts.
“I still think that’s crazy.” She pointed out. He shrugged but was still gazing at her curiously, as if she was a puzzle he couldn’t piece together.
When they reached the stairs to descend down into the dinning area Amy had collected her emotions.
There weren’t as many people down there as the day before but there was still quite a lot. At least, enough to make her nervous.
Amy made her way down the huge staircase with Tayon following her as they walked over to the table where Safyra was.
“You are late. Are you ready for the trip?” She said, looking rather amused with a touch of anxiousness. Tayon smiled and nodded and sat down next to Amy.
Amy stared down at yet another exotic meal. She picked up one of the many silver jade forks and began eating. She almost wished for a bowl of frosted flakes…even if the food was good, like usual. It was almost too good. Every food had a different taste that made her taste buds squeal with the overload of flavor.
After they had all polished off there plates Tayon stood.
“Time to go. I’ll go get Valk ready. Do you guys wish to ride him with me or a dishora?” he asked.
Safyra frowned “I thought you said Valk could carry all of us?” Tayon smirked at her and Amy marveled at his ease in getting past Safyra’s fierce look.
“Oh, he can carry all of us…but, if we all were on his back at once for that long of a distance it wouldn’t be comfortable at all.” Safyra seemed to get the hint and nodded briskly while her eyes were calculating.
“Kevyn and I will ride dishoras then. Amy will ride with you since she doesn’t know how to fly yet.” Amy tried not to give Safyra a withering look at her words. The plans seemed suitable enough for everyone else though. How could she complain, she got to rest the whole way, no driving for her.
The stood and while Tayon left, Kevyn and Amy waited while Safyra said quick goodbyes to her uncle and aunt.
Giving her aunt on last kiss Safyra straightened and motioned for Kevyn and Amy to follow her.
They left, only Safyra not looking back.

“Oh I don’t like this I DO NOT like this…” Amy muttered under her breath as Valk swerved over a cloud.
Tayon laughed “Don’t tell me you’re scared” he said looking back at her. Amy gulped.
“Definitely not.” They soared over a mountain and a burst of wind made them wobble. Amy clutched harder onto Tayon’s waist and closed her eyes.
Tayon chuckled “if you squeeze any harder I might not be able to breathe” Amy glared at the back of his head and then loosened her arms.
“Why do you persist on making my life miserable” she said scowling.
“Miserable? Now that’s insulting I thought I was doing better then that….” He said laughing. Amy rolled her eyes and would have punched him but she refused to let go at any costs.
“Yes miserable.” She said scowling. “I have officially decided I hate flying. I could fall any minute and then who would rescue Kara?” this made Tayon laugh.
“Oohhh, so you’re not worried about your own hide. But if your hide doesn’t live your friend’s won’t. You are a strange one.” This made him chuckle again. Amy didn’t tried not to take offence for his laugh was not unkind.
“I never said I wasn’t worried about my own skin.” Amy said making Tayon snort.
The rose quickly as if caught in an updraft and Amy ducked her head as they flew through a low cloud. Tayon laughed and put his arms in the air letting the moist air soak into him.
“Come on Amy, put your hands up. Valk won’t let you fall; even if you did we could catch you before you hit the ground. Come on, give flying a try. It just takes awhile to get used to the height.” He said looking back over his shoulder. Amy grumbled and snorted but decided to try it. If she did fall they’d better catch her….
She hesitantly slipped her hands out of there death hold on Tayon’s waist and lifted them up in the air to feel the coolness of the water.
Surprisingly it was easer to feel less scared with her hands in the air. More free then before. She let her legs relax their death hold on Valk’s neck and laughed, surprising them both.
They plunged out of the cloud and saw the others appear out of the fog minutes after them. Her fear was swept away; strangely enough she didn’t know how she had ever felt scared. Then she looked down.
Amy’s hands fell and she clutched Tayon once again. Tayon craned his neck around to look at her.
“You’re the weirdest person I’ve ever met. For a minute there I thought you’d had it.” He said.
Amy scowled “I’ll take that as a complement” that made him laugh.
Amy felt the buzz in her mind before Tayon seemed to get the message. She shivered as she pushed it aside again.
The silent message was received and Valk veered down and to Amy’s stomach’s horror they plunged down so they flew beside Safyra’s dishora. Well, as close as they could get. Valk was easily ten times bigger then it.
“We’d better look for a camp for the night; the dishoras are getting tired.” She called over the wind. Tayon nodded and they flew lower and finally found a good place in a clearing big enough for Valk.
The dishora’s landed first and Valk waited for Safyra and Kevyn to tie them to the trees.
Valk then flew down and carefully laid the huge bag full of their supplies down on the ground and un-hooked his claws from the fabric then landed.
As soon as they were safely on the ground Amy jumped of and kneeled down on the earth hugging it she had a strong erg to kiss it.
Tayon laughed at her and got down on his knees and pretended to worship the ground as well.
Amy reached over and playfully took a swipe at him. Tayon growled playfully and made as if to grab her but they were hit by the wind stirred up by Safyra and Kevyn’s dishoras.
Safyra, nimble as a cat jumped quickly off the dishora, flipping her legs quickly to avoid the wings. Amy stared curiously, she wondered if she could learn that.
“Someone over there come and help me undo this knot in the bag” Kevyn yelled at Tayon and he ran over and helped to untie the knot at the top of the bag. Safyra walked over to Amy as they worked and stretched.
“You sore?” Amy asked. Safyra nodded quickly but shrugged.
They looked over as the boys broke through the knot and pulled the four corners out of the way to reveal their bags.
“Okay let’s get dinner starte...” he never finished his sentence. The bags on the top were thrown back to reveal a human. More correctly, an elf.
“That was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever done! I must say that stupid dragon can’t fly at all!” said an all too familiar voice.
It was Kaprie.
